MATIC vs. Manual Drive

Adanya sih, yg banyak, org2 blgnya begini “hare gene masik pake manual, apa kate duniee!”
And i was like, uuuhh… not helping ><

Considering this:

Transmisi —————————– Manual ———————————- Matic
Jenis Oli ———————————- Mineral SAE 90 ——————— ATF
Harga Oli ——————————– Rp 20.000 ————————– Rp 40.000

Kalau mogok, sisa telpon service centernya, ntar mereka dateng njemput kita. Tapi kalau kita lagi dipedalaman, trus mogok, kan susah.. soalnya kita hobbynya jalan2 ke pelosok gituh. Sampe Bpk. Satria cuman bisa ketawa waktu ditanya papa begitu. Katanya, yah, kalau udah dipedalaman, ya memang lebih aman manual, soalnya kan service center ada batas2nya juga, ga mungkin ngejar ampe kepedalaman gituh
    6. Masalah kaki capek gonta ganti gigi, sama sekali irrelevant menurut saya.

Jadi, kayanya udah lengkap deh..

Tatkala Aku Sudah Tua

22 May 09
Mama nemu selebaran ini dirumah engkong waktu dia disby 😛
Trus diambil mama (sebelum hancur jadi kertas oret2)
Mama demen banget ama puisi ini…
And my heart was broken reading it T____T

Tatkala Aku Sudah Tua
Harap mengertilah sedikit, sabarlah padaku
Tatkala kutumpahkan soup sayur dibajuku
Tatkala kulupa bagaimana mengikat tali sepatuku
Ingatlah semula aku mengajarimu satu demi satu

Tatkala aku mengulang kata2 yang bagimu membosankan
Dengarlah baik2, jangan memotong kataku
Saat kau masih kecil aku ber-kali2 mengulang dongeng2 itu
Hingga kau tertidur lelap

Saatku tak paham tentang teknologi modern, jangan menertawaiku

Sebenarnya bagiku membahas sesuatu tidaklah penting

Tatkala kau melihatku semakin tua renta, janganlah terlalu sedih
Mengertilah diriku, dukunglah aku seperti saat kau mulai belajar bagaimana menjalani kehidupan

Semula kuajarimu meniti jalan kehidupan
Kini kau mendampingiku menyelesaikan perjalanan hingga akhir hidupku

Nemu bukunya Mutiara dharma jaman bahula…
Uda mau kubuang (thingking, wat was i thinking nyimpen ginian)
ternyata, nemu ini didalemnya, yg gw kasi tanda 😛

Setiap orang punya pikiran yang sehat
tapi sedikit yang dapat bertindak
sesuai dengan pikiran sehat yang dimilikinya

Berbahagialah mereka yang menyadari
kesalahan-kesalahannya sejak dini,

orang-orang lain.

Kalau saja kita bisa
dibohongi tanpa ikut-ikutan berbohong,
atau dibenci tanpa terbawa oleh kebencian,
alangkah bahagianya batin kita.

Persahabatan
by: Yongky Arya Cuandy, Ujungpandang

Sahabat adalah kebutuhan rasa dalam batin
Karena disanalah engkau mendapat keseimbangan
tempat bertukar opini dan saling asuh
Mendekatinya bilamana hati gersang dan keruh
Mencarinya di kata perasaan butuh perdamaian.

Janganlah ada maksud lain dari persahabatan
Selain saling memperkaya batin dan kehidupanmu
Bila kasihmu mengandung pamrih
Ibarat jaring ditebarkan yang hanya menangkap
Sesuatu yang tidak diharapkan.

Berikanlah yang terindah dalam persahabatan
Bila perlu jiwa dan ragamu;
Jika dia harus tahu musim surutmu
Biar dia mengenal pula musim pasangmu.

Jangan kau dekati dia hanya untuk membunuh waktu
Jangan kau hampiri dia hanya untuk memuaskan egomu
Datangilah dia untuk menghidupkan waktu
Dekatilah dia untuk mengisi kekuranganmu
Timbulkanlah kemanisan dalam persahabatan
Biarlah ada tawa ria dan kegembiraan
Berbagi duka dan kesenangan.

Sebab berkumpul dan berteman itu mudah
Tetapi bertemu dan menjadi sahabat itu sukar
Maka sekali bertemu jadikanlah itu kesempatan
Untuk meraih persahabatan yang harmonis.

The Five Pillars of Self-Discipline

from http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/06/self-discipline/

The Five Pillars of Self-Discipline

The five pillars of self-discipline are: Acceptance, Willpower, Hard Work, Industry, and Persistence. If you take the first letter of each word, you get the acronym “A WHIP” — a convenient way to remember them, since many people associate self-discipline with whipping themselves into shape.

What Is Self-Discipline?
Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state.

Building Self-Discipline
My philosophy of how to build self-discipline is best explained by an analogy. Self-discipline is like a muscle. The more you train it, the stronger you become. The less you train it, the weaker you become.

Just as everyone has different muscular strength, we all possess different levels of self-discipline. Everyone has some — if you can hold your breath a few seconds, you have some self-discipline. But not everyone has developed their discipline to the same degree.

Just as it takes muscle to build muscle, it takes self-discipline to build self-discipline.

The way to build self-discipline is analogous to using progressive weight training to build muscle. This means lifting weights that are close to your limit. Note that when you weight train, you lift weights that are within your ability to lift. You push your muscles until they fail, and then you rest.

Don’t compare yourself to other people. It won’t help. You’ll only find what you expect to find. If you think you’re weak, everyone else will seem stronger. If you think you’re strong, everyone else will seem weaker. There’s no point in doing this. Simply look at where you are now, and aim to get better as you go forward.

Self-Discipline: Acceptance
The first of the five pillars of self-discipline is acceptance. Acceptance means that you perceive reality accurately and consciously acknowledge what you perceive.

This may sound simple and obvious, but in practice it’s extremely difficult. If you experience chronic difficulties in a particular area of your life, there’s a strong chance that the root of the problem is a failure to accept reality as it is.

Why is acceptance a pillar of self-discipline? The most basic mistake people make with respect to self-discipline is a failure to accurately perceive and accept their present situation. Remember the analogy between self-discipline and weight training from yesterday’s post? If you’re going to succeed at weight training, the first step is to figure out what weights you can already lift. How strong are you right now? Until you figure out where you stand right now, you cannot adopt a sensible training program.

Without acceptance you get either ignorance or denial. With ignorance you simply don’t know how disciplined you are — you’ve probably never even thought about it. You don’t know that you don’t know. You’ll only have a fuzzy notion of what you can and can’t do. You’ll experience some easy successes and some dismal failures, but you’re more likely to blame the task or blame yourself instead of simply acknowledging that the “weight” was too heavy for you and that you need to become stronger.

Self-Discipline: Willpower

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
– Vince Lombardi

Willpower is your ability to set a course of action and say, “Engage!”

Willpower provides an intensely powerful yet temporary boost. Think of it as a one-shot thruster. It burns out quickly, but if directed intelligently, it can provide the burst you need to overcome inertia and create momentum.

Willpower is the spearhead of self-discipline. Willpower is a concentration of force. You gather up all your energy and make a massive thrust forward. You attack your problems strategically at their weakest points until they crack, allowing you enough room to maneuver deeper into their territory and finish them off.

Use Willpower to Create Self-Sustaining Momentum

So if willpower can only be used in short, powerful bursts, then what’s the best way to apply it? How do you keep from slipping back into old patterns once the temporary willpower blast is over?

The proper use of willpower is to establish that beachhead — to permanently change the territory itself such that it’s easier to continue moving on. Use willpower to reduce the ongoing need for such a high level of sustained force.

Self-Discipline: Hard Work
The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.
– Oprah Winfrey

My definition of hard work is that which challenges you. Most people will do what’s easiest and avoid hard work — and that’s precisely why you should do the opposite. The superficial opportunities of life will be attacked by hordes of people seeking what’s easy. The much tougher challenges will usually see a lot less competition and a lot more opportunity.

Strong challenge is commonly connected with strong results. Sure you can get lucky every once in a while and find an easy path to success. But will you be able to maintain that success, or is it just a fluke? Will you be able to repeat it? Once other people learn how you did it, will you find yourself overloaded with competition?

Hard work pays off. When someone tells you otherwise, beware the sales pitch for something “fast and easy” that’s about to come next. The greater your capacity for hard work, the more rewards fall within your grasp. The deeper you can dig, the more treasure you can potentially find.

Your life will reach a whole new level when you stop avoiding and fearing hard work and simply surrender to it. Make it your ally instead of your enemy. It’s a potent tool to have on your side.

Self-Discipline: Industry
Industry is working hard. In contrast to hard work, being industrious doesn’t necessarily mean doing work that’s challenging or difficult. It simply means putting in the time. You can be industrious doing easy work or hard work.

Self-discipline requires that you develop the capacity to put in the time where it’s needed. A lot of messes are created when we refuse to put in the time to do what needs to be done — and to do it correctly.

It wasn’t difficult or costly to do these things. It was simply a matter of time to get them done. It didn’t require much skill or brainpower. All we had to do was just accept that they needed to be done, take a few minutes to figure out how to do them, and then do them.

Of course industry is only one tool among many. It will allow you to complete your work efficiently, but it won’t tell you what work to do in the first place. Industry is a low level tool. Working hard doesn’t necessarily mean working smart. But this weakness of industry doesn’t remove its powerful place in your personal development toolbox. Once you’ve decided on a course of action and see your plans laid out in front of you, nothing can do the job as well as industry. In the long run your results will come from your actions, and industry is all about action.

Self-Discipline: Persistence
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
– Calvin Coolidge

Persistence is the ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings. You press on even when you feel like quitting.

When you work on any big goal, your motivation will wax and wane like waves hitting the shore. Sometimes you’ll feel motivated; sometimes you won’t. But it’s not your motivation that will produce results — it’s your action. Persistence allows you to keep taking action even when you don’t feel motivated to do so, and therefore you keep accumulating results.

Persistence will ultimately provide its own motivation. If you simply keep taking action, you’ll eventually get results, and results can be very motivating. For example, you may become a lot more enthusiastic about dieting and exercising once you’ve lost those first 10 pounds and feel your clothes fitting more loosely.

Persistence of action comes from persistence of vision. When you’re super-clear about what you want in such a way that your vision doesn’t change much, you’ll be consistent in your actions. And that consistency of action will produce consistency of results.

Quotes on Persistance

No man with a man’s heart in him, gets far on his way without some bitter, soul searching disappointment. Happy he who is brave enough to push on another stage of the journey, and rest where there are living springs of water, and three score and ten palms.
– Brown

Too many of us wait to do the perfect thing, with the result we do nothing. The way to get ahead is to start now. While many of us are waiting until conditions are “just right” before we go ahead, others are stumbling along, fortunately ignorant of the dangers that beset them. By the time we are, in our superior wisdom, decided to make a start, we discover that those who have gone fearlessly on before, have, in their blundering way, traveled a considerable distance. If you start now, you will know a lot next year that you don’t know now, and that you will not know next year, if you wait.
– The William Feather Magazine

If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying, “Here comes number seventy-one!”
– Richard M. DeVos

Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.
– Mark Twain

Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.
– Newt Gingrich

Life grants nothing to us mortals without hard work.
– Horace

To bring one’s self to a frame of mind and to the proper energy to accomplish things that require plain hard work continuously is the one big battle that everyone has. When this battle is won for all time, then everything is easy.
– Thomas A. Buckner

They who lack talent expect things to happen without effort. They ascribe failure to a lack of inspiration or ability, or to misfortune, rather than to insufficient application. At the core of every true talent there is an awareness of the difficulties inherent in any achievement, and the confidence that by persistence and patience something worthwhile will be realized. Thus talent is a species of vigor.
– Eric Hoffer

Energy and persistence conquer all things.
– Benjamin Franklin

Hidup adalah tantangan, hadapilah. Hidup adalah anugerah, terimalah. Hidup adalah petualangan, berjuanglah. Hidup adalah duka lara, tanggungilah. Hidup adalah tragedi, tuntaskanlah. Hidup adalah tugas, laksanakanlah. Hidup adalah cita-cita, capailah. Hidup adalah permainan, mainkanlah. Hidup adalah misteri, singkapkanlah. Hidup adalah lagu, nyanyikanlah. Hidup adalah kesempatan, ambillah. Hidup adalah perjalanan, jalanilah. Hidup adalah janji, penuhilah. Hidup adalah kasih sayang, bergembiralah. Hidup adalah keindahan, bersyukurlah. Hidup adalah perkelahian, bertarunglah. Hidup adalah jiwa, sadarilah. Hidup adalah teka-teki, pecahkanlah. (Rabindranath Tagore)

“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn’t it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life…You give them a piece of you. They didn’t ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn’t your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like ‘maybe we should be just friends’ turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It’s a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.” Neil Gaiman

“Yes I love him. I love him more than anything else in this world and there is nothing that I would like better than to hold on to him forever. But I know it’s not for the best. So no matter how much my heart is going to break, I’ve got to let him go so he can know just how much I love him. Maybe if I’m lucky, he’ll come back, but if not, I can make it through this.” Anonymous

“You know that when I hate you, it is because I love you to a point of passion that unhinges my soul.” Julie de Lespinasse

“If I never met you, I wouldn’t like you. If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t love you. If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t miss you. But I did, I do, and I will.” Anonymous

“You don’t love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.” Anonymous

“Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.” Robert F. Bennett

Anita Blake Series:
anita blake
My name is Anita Blake. Vampires call me The Executioner. What I call them isn’t repeatable. Most people think vampires are just ordinary folks with fangs. I know better. I’ve seen their victims. I carry the scars…

Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter is a series of er@tic fantasy novels by Laurell K. Hamilton, narrated in first person, vaguely hard-boiled detective style by the title character, Anita Blake. Anita lives in a fictional Saint Louis much like our own, save that, not only are things like vampires and shapeshifters real, but everyone knows that they’re real and they are considered citizens of America, much like normal humans. The novels follow Anita’s ongoing conflicts with the supernatural as she attempts to solve a variety of supernatural mysteries, come to grips with her own abilities, and navigate an increasingly complex series of romantic and political relationships

Agatha Christie Novels

agatha christie
Agatha Mary Clarissa, Lady Mallowan, DBE (15 September 1890 — 12 January 1976), also known as Dame Agatha Christie, was an English crime fiction writer. She also wrote romances under the name Mary Westmacott, but is chiefly remembered for her 66 detective novels. Her work with these novels, particularly featuring detectives Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple, have given her the title the ’Queen of Crime’ and made her one of the most important and innovative writers in the development of the genre.

Christie has been called—by the Guinness Book of World Records, among others—the best-selling writer of books of all time, and the best-selling writer of any kind second only to William Shakespeare. An estimated one billion copies of her novels have been sold in English, and another billion in 103 other languages[1]. As an example of her broad appeal, she is the all-time best-selling author in France, with over 40 million copies sold in French (as of 2003) versus 22 million for Emile Zola, the nearest contender.

Mitchell Margaret – Gone With the Wind

gone with the wind
Sometimes only remembered for the epic motion picture and “Frankly … I don’t give a damn,” Gone with the Wind was initially a compelling and entertaining novel. It was the sweeping story of tangled passions and the rare courage of a group of people in Atlanta during the time of Civil War that brought those cinematic scenes to life. The reason the movie became so popular was the strength of its characters–Scarlett O’Hara, Rhett Butler, and Ashley Wilkes–all created here by the deft hand of Margaret Mitchell, in this, her first novel.
The New York Times Book Review:
This is beyond a doubt one of the most remarkable first novels produced by an American writer. It is also one of the best.
Lord of the Rings Series

lotr
The Lord of the Rings is an epic high fantasy novel written by the English academic J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien’s earlier fantasy book, The Hobbit, but developed into a much larger story. It was written in stages between 1937 and 1949, with much of it being created during World War II. It was originally published in three volumes in 1954 and 1955 somewhat to Tolkien’s annoyance, since he had intended it to be a single volume. It has since been reprinted numerous times and translated into at least 38 languages, becoming one of the most popular works in 20th-century literature.

Mummy – Rosalia Lombardo

One day, when i was bored like crazy coz i cannot sleep.
I watched ripley’s believe it or not! and there is the story of Rosalia Lombardo, the youngest mummy aka. the Sleeping Beauty.
The next day, i googled her and was fascinated by her…
But then, 3 months has passed, suddenly she passed my mind and i was having the hardest time to remember her name.
I scrabbled my scraps paper, googled here and there, and finally i found her name…
This is why i want to put her in my blog, in case i forget again 😛

Here’s her story:

Rosalia Lombardo

Rosalia Lombardo

Rosalia Lombardo was an Italian child born in 1918 in Palermo, Sicily. She died on December 6 1920. It is thought that she died from a bronchial infection. Rosalia’s father was sorely grieved upon her death that he approached Dr. Alfredo Salafia, a noted embalmer, to preserve her. [1]She was one of the last corpses to be admitted to the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily.

Thanks to Dr. Salafia’s embalming techniques, the body has been well-preserved and appeared so lifelike that until recently, locals believed she must be a doll. X-rays of the body show that the organs are remarkably intact. [2] The child appears as if she were only sleeping, hence receiving the name “Sleeping Beauty” . Rosalia Lombardo’s body is kept in a small chapel at the end of the catacomb’s tour and is encased in a glass covered coffin, placed on a marble pedestal.

Aside from a flat and somewhat unnatural skin tone, Rosalia’s body is remarkably well preserved. Many say she appears to be sleeping, and this may have been the case for some time after her death; however, it is quite obvious today she is deceased due to the discoloration that has become more pronounced since her death.

The mummification techniques used by Dr. Alfredo Salafia, which allegedly involved a chemicalinjection process are still a mystery as Dr. Salafia never revealed this particular technique in his lifetime. It is difficult for many to believe that Dr. Salafia developed such a complex procedure or a chemical compound entirely independent of other experts in the field of preservation. Methods for embalming are generally developed over time by experimentation guided by new understandings of anatomy and chemistry. If Dr. Salafia was not in communication with other preservation experts, and had in fact developed the method entirely independently, he would likely have required multiple “subjects” to experiment on before achieving the quality seen with Rosalia Lombardo. It is more likely that he used methods which he learnt privately from other embalmers, and modified these methods with his own medical knowledge. There is also no evidence that he did not educate others before his death, since chemically preserved corpses are not particularly rare.

Recently, the formula was found from a handwritten memoir of Salafia’s. The formula apparently consisted of formalin to kill bacteria, alcohol to dry the body, glycerin to keep her from overdrying, salicylic acid to kill fungi, and the most important ingredient, zinc salts to give the body rigidity.

Star Dust

Star Dust

Star Dust

I just watched this movie yesterday by accident.
And suprisingly, i think this movie is the BEST fantasy movie ever!!!
Since it is extremely rare to find a fantasy movie that is funny, cool and beautifull at the same time.
And the story itself was GREAT!!!

Here goes the Synopsis:
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stardust_(2007_film)

One evening in the small English village of Wall (so called because of the nearby stone wall that is actually a border with another world), young Dunstan Thorn sneaks past the guard at the hole in the wall to see what is on the other side. In the market village near the wall he meets a witch’s slave girl (Kate Magowan), who coyly claims to be a captive princess and asks if he will be her rescuer. The couple met for only one night and fell in love instantly. Nine months later the wall guard arrives at Dunstan’s door with a baby in a basket, saying his name is Tristan.

The story jumps eighteen years later to Tristan Thorn (Charlie Cox) as a young man. He is a shop boy and is totally infatuated with the prettiest girl in the village, Victoria (Sienna Miller). But Tristan has a rival in Humphrey, who Victoria prefers and who humiliates Tristan in front of her, using his wealth and fencing skills. One night, Tristan convinces Victoria to come out to a night time picnic to look at the stars. The conversation is awkward between the two, as they talk about who is willing to go farther for Victoria’s affection.

Under the same stars, on the other side of the wall in Stormhold, the King (Peter O’Toole) is on his deathbed, in the company of his still-surviving sons. The King takes the Power of Stormhold, a large ruby, and throws it out into the night sky, declaring that “he of royal blood” who first finds the ruby will become the next ruler of Stormhold. The stone turns clear and shoots up into the sky, colliding with a star, which then falls down to Earth.

Tristan, desperate to win Victoria’s affection, claims he will bring to her the fallen star by her birthday, as that is the only way she will agree to marry him. After Tristan fails to slip past the guard at the wall, his father gives him a note and a Babylon candle his mother left to him when he was a baby. Tristan lights the Babylon candle to go to her, but accidentally thinks about the star, and is magically transported to the star’s impact area in the kingdom of Stormhold. Tristan soon determines that the star is not what he expected: The star is actually a beautiful, immortal and spirited young woman named Yvaine (Claire Danes).

Determined to win Victoria’s heart, Tristan uses the enchanted silver chain, which his father obtained trying to free the princess, to link Yvaine to himself. He promises Yvaine he will use the last of the magic candle to send her back to the sky after he has taken her to Victoria. However, Tristan is not the only one seeking the star. Yvaine is in terrible danger: three witches known as “The Lilim” — Mormo, Empusa and the eldest and the most powerful, Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer) — want her so they can recover their beauty and eternal youth by devouring the star’s heart. Additionally, the surviving sons of the King are looking for the stone that Yvaine wears (the one that knocked her out of the sky).

The witch sisters select Lamia to seek the star, and she uses what’s left of the heart from a previous star to restore her youth and beauty. After using runes to determine the star’s location, Lamia meets Ditchwater Sal, the witch who is keeping Tristan’s mother captive. Sal drugs Lamia’s food with a magical substance that causes her to speak only the truth, forcing Lamia to blurt out the story of the fallen star. Sal plots to find the star first and restore her own youth, but Lamia curses her so that she will never perceive the star in any way.

It is the middle of the day, and Yvaine is very weary from her injured leg and from being unaccustomed to daytime travel. Tristan ties her to a tree with the magic chain and promises to return with food. A unicorn comes and frees Yvaine and takes her to a roadside inn. Tristan, on returning, discovers Yvaine gone and lies down to rest. The stars whisper to Tristan in his sleep and warn him of Yvaine’s danger from the witches and beg him to save their sister. Tristan awakes just as Prince Primus is passing in his stagecoach, and he manages to hitch a ride. Together they travel to the inn where the unicorn had taken Yvaine. But the inn is actually a trap magically created by Lamia, who is posing as the innkeeper’s wife. Lamia kills Primus, but with some help from the unicorn Tristan and Yvaine narrowly escape using the Babylon candle.

Prince Septimus arrives and determines he is the last surviving son of the King, but he still needs the stone to become king. Septimus learns that it is in the possession of the fallen star and that the heart of a star grants immortality. This knowledge only spurs Septimus’ quest, and he follows the tracks of the witch, hoping to both retrieve the stone and devour the heart of the star so he can rule Stormhold forever.

The candle takes Tristan and Yvaine up into the storm clouds. (Tristan told Yvaine to “think of home”; he thought of his home, she thought of hers, and they ended up half way between.) They are captured by pirates in a flying ship who are collecting lightning bolts. The captain, Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro), interrogates them, and stages throwing Tristan off the ship to his death using a dummy in order to maintain his reputation as a ruthless pirate. After the pirates dock to conduct business with a shady trader, Ferdy the Fence (Ricky Gervais), the crew returns to the ship to see a fancily dressed Tristan aboard. Captain Shakespeare claims Tristan is his nephew and to be granted safe passage. Tristan learns swordplay and Yvaine learns to dance during their stay on the sky ship, and they begin to fall in love with each other.

Captain Shakespeare sets them down by the road to Wall, with only one day left to Victoria’s birthday. Walking along the road, the two encounter Ditchwater Sal driving her caravan to Wall, the same caravan at which Tristan’s father had purchased a glass flower eighteen years previously. Tristran trades this flower for safe passage to Wall, but Sal then transforms him into a dormouse out of spite. Sal is unable to perceive Yvaine because of the curse Lamia placed upon her. Yvaine passes the journey to Wall unnoticed in the witch’s caravan, and reveals her love to Tristan while he’s a mouse, not realizing that he can understand her.

Arriving in the market village, Sal restores Tristan to his human form. Tristan is too woozy to cross back to Wall that evening, so he and Yvaine spend the night at an inn, and Tristan tells Yvaine that he returns her love. Next morning, while Yvaine is still asleep, Tristan cuts off a piece of her hair and goes back to England to tell Victoria that he no longer wishes to marry her. Yvaine wakes up, but the innkeeper garbles Tristan’s message to her so she believes Tristan has left her for Victoria. Meanwhile, when Tristan tries to give Victoria the lock of Yvaine’s hair, he finds that it has turned into stardust. He realizes that if Yvaine tries to cross the wall she will die, and he hurries back to the other side of the wall to find her.

He arrives too late. The slave girl, having seen Yvaine solemnly heading towards the wall, takes over Ditchwater Sal’s caravan and races after her to prevent her from crossing. She stops Yvaine just in time, but then Lamia arrives in Primus’ stagecoach. Lamia confronts Sal and kills her, setting the slave girl momentarily free, before Lamia takes both Yvaine and the slave girl captive and takes them to The Lilim’s castle; Yvaine to be killed and the other to be a servant.

Septimus and Tristan both follow, and encounter each other outside the castle, and the two agree to attack the witches together. Septimus confronts the slave girl first, but recognizes her as his long lost sister, Una, daughter of the King of Stormhold (the ghosts of the other six brothers are delighted to see her). Septimus goes on to attack and defeat Empusa, impaling her with a sword. Tristan confronts the slave girl too, and she convinces him that she is his mother. Meanwhile, Septimus attacks Lamia who uses a voodoo doll to break Septimus’ arm and a leg and then drops the doll into water, drowning Septimus.

Tristan has to vanquish the two remaining witches alone. He defeats Mormo by releasing the caged animals in the castle, and she is mauled to death. Lamia uses the voodoo doll to reanimate Septimus’ corpse to attack Tristan, but Tristan traps the corpse under a chandelier. But then Lamia disarms Tristan, and is about to kill him when she pretends to have a change of heart, and releases both Tristan and Yvaine. It is merely a ruse, intended to restore Yvaine’s broken heart to make it more powerful for her purposes. As Tristan and Yvaine attempt to leave Lamia attacks them again. But Yvaine, now knowing that Tristan really loves her, is able to unleash a powerful wave of starlight that disintegrates Lamia.

Tristan picks up the jewel that Yvaine had been wearing. Una explains that as her son, Tristan is the last male heir of Stormhold. The jewel is restored to ruby red by Tristan’s touch, and Tristan becomes the new king of Stormhold with Yvaine at his side as queen. After eighty years of ruling Stormhold the two lovers use a Babylon candle (a wedding gift from Una) to ascend to the sky, where they become twin stars. It is stated that since Yvaine “gave her heart” to Tristan when she fell in love with him, the two will live forever. And they still live happily ever after in the sky.
